CMAP offers free, interactive workshops for local governments to learn how to improve accessibility in their communities and work toward compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Accessibility not only improves the resilience of our region, but by meeting federal ADA requirements, we can help ensure our region continues to receive millions of dollars in annual transportation funding.
The series of trainings cover separate topics:
- The ADA and Title II and Illinois Accessibility Code training – September 14
(location TBD)
- ADA coordinator training
- ADA self-evaluation and design standards
- ADA transition plans.
Stay tuned for more information on fall 2023 trainings!

Celebrating 33 years of ADA
CMAP is proud to celebrate 33 years of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Today we recognize the anniversary of this important civil rights law that prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in all areas of public life, including jobs, schools, transportation, and in public places. The purpose of the law is to ensure that people with disabilities have equal rights and access to opportunities.
Join CMAP and our partners in spreading awareness and celebrating this milestone - the ADA Anniversary campaign toolkit linked below provides social media posts, hashtags, images and videos that your organization can utilize.
