Traffic Accident: Road Open - Oakland/Center @ Main/Macarthur

Bloomington, IL - The accident at Oakland/Center @ Main/Macarthur has been cleared, and the roadway has been reopened for vehicle traffic. Traffic flow should return to normal once the congestion has dissipated.

Today (7/29/21) at approximately 2:47 p.m., a BPD officer was on patrol and noticed a traffic crash had occurred at the intersection of Main St and Oakland Ave. Unit 1 was on Main St. traveling north when it struck another vehicle (unit 2). Unit 2 was traveling west on Oakland Ave when it was struck by unit 1. Unit 2 then rolled onto it's side into a parking lot. As a result of the crash, a power line pole was struck which caused power lines to fall to the ground. Officers and firefighters blocked off the area. Two of the passengers in unit 2 were transported to St. Joseph's E.R. for minor injuries. The driver of unit 1 was issued a citation for Disobeying a Traffic Control Signal and released from the scene.
