Robert Mandell '25, Mikaella Moraga '25, and Arnav Patel '25 represented IMSA at the Japan Super Science Fair in Kyoto, Japan earlier this month. They showcased their innovative Student Inquiry and Research projects to a global audience of peers and STEM professionals.
IMSA seniors Jaden Blankenship, Shashi Salavath, and Devarsh Shah have been named Coca-Cola Scholarship Semi-Finalists! Selected from over 100,000 nationwide, this prestigious honor recognizes their academic excellence, leadership, and community service. Only the top 1% of applicants earn this distinction and advance to the finalist round, where they have the chance to receive up to $20,000 in college scholarships.
ACS junior, Gracie Knight, displayed her artwork entitled "Hold On" at the 2024-2025 Illinois Art Education Association Statewide Art Show. Her piece will travel the state of Illinois for the entire school year!
Harter Middle School students Ameleah B., Isabella V (below)., and Giovanna V. (below) had their work shown at the Chicagoland 4x5 Exhibition. Giovanna took 2nd place in Traditional 2-D Media and Ameleah Placed an Honorable Mention for Digital Arts at the competition, where many Harter students had artwork displayed. Congrats!

 George Karellas of IPSD 204 was recently recognized at the district's October Board Salute for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. This is a life-long achievement--the highest rank in the Boy Scouts of America's Scouts program--and symbolizes a Scout's leadership, dedication, and commitment to their community.

2024 Batavia High School graduate, Ryan Anderson, won Best Photography at the Chicago/Midwest chapter of the Student Production Awards. Anderson also produced a music video for the competition, which is a division of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
More than 2,000 entries were submitted to the regional chapters and judged by selected industry professionals and media academics. Ryan's video was selected to advance and compete against three other entries at the National Student Production Awards. The ceremony will be streamed on November 21 at 12PM CT and can be watched here: https://watch.theemmys.tv/

Oswego Community Unit School District 308
Eight students from Oswego East (OE) and Oswego High School (OHS) have been named semi-finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Corporation Program. There are approximately 16,000 semi-finalists across the country.
Nishka Bijumalla (OE), Bella Johnson (OE), Mahathi Kandukuri (OE), Finnegan Murray (OE), Zakaria Rahali (OE), Stephen Balhan (OHS), John Kellogg (OHS), and Jessica Van Vorren (OHS) were named semi-finalists, while Owen Driscoll (OHS) was named as Commended.

 Waubonsee students celebrating the excited conclusion of their inaugural New Venture Academy entrepreneurship program. The program provides aspiring and early-stage entrepreneurs with support and resources. Students receive a certificate of completion for bringing business ideas from conception to fine-tuned action plans, which were presented to a business pitch panel.
Six exercise science students recently returned from the 2024 Midwest College of Sports Medicine Annual Meeting in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and professionals from Midwest institutions and organizations shared current research within the field.
Emily Percino '25 and Arturo Sosa '25 were selected to present findings from the AU Exercise Science Research Lab, which conducts exercise science trials to help further understand human health performance. they were joined by Sophia Torne '25, Mekhii Morris-Heron '26, Diane Fuentes '26, and Viviana Ramirez '27.

East Aurora High School seniors Kevin Martinez and Karina Villagran were recently sworn in as Student Board Members for the 2024-2025 school year.
Both students are already active in several school activities and leadership groups. Martinez is part of the National Honor Society, Student Council, the Aurora Youth Council, a Cohort Leader of the Upward Bound TRIO Program, and involved in the Youth Engagement in Philanthropy group.
Villagran is a part of the Student Council, National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, Student Athlete Society, Student Ambassador, a co-host of the Women in STEAM Panel, and a member of the Harvard Bloomberg Youth Advisory Board with the City of Aurora’s Mayor's Office.
Congrats to these stand-out students.

Rosary High School's Class of 2025 welcomes 11 Illinois State Scholars into the fold.
The Illinois State Scholar Program is awarded to high school seniors based on ACT or SAT test scores, unweighted class rank, and other academic qualifications.

 Marmion Academy students were amongst the ILMEA All-District performers who performed at the All-District Festival in November. Marmion and Rosary students performed together at the choral competition, under the direction of Dr. Kim Adams from West Chester University.
Students Gracie Geronimo ‘23 and Amalia Muñoz ‘24 were presented with the Those Who Make a Difference award, for their key role in designing the sign for the Jeff Craig Family Resource Center.
Their project, which began in last spring’s Intro to Graphic Design course, provided them with practical experience and valuable feedback. Their creativity and hard work have left a meaningful and lasting impact on the district.
