Landscape Scale Restoration Grant Program
The Landscape Scale Restoration (LSR) Program, administered locally by the Idaho Department of Lands (IDL) in partnership with the USDA Forest Service, is a competitive grant program designed to address large-scale forest health challenges where they matter most.
The program targets high-priority forest landscapes to deliver measurable, on-the-ground results. Projects funded through LSR focus on at least one of these priorities:
Hazardous Fuels Management: Thinning, prescribed fire, and fuels reduction treatments to lower the risk of uncharacteristic wildfires, including cross-boundary projects and wildland-urban interface (WUI) risk reduction near high-value assets.
Insect, Disease, & Invasive Pest Mitigation: Chemical, mechanical, or biological treatments to control or suppress insect infestations, tree diseases, and noxious or invasive plants.
Riparian & Watershed Restoration: Planting trees, saplings, or seedlings to restore floodplains, establish riparian buffers, and enhance water quality/quantity.
Wildlife & Fish Habitat Enhancement: Forest treatments specifically designed to improve habitats for fish and wildlife, including threatened and endangered species.
Post-Fire Recovery: Restoring forested landscapes after wildfire events to move the area toward desired future conditions.
