WSFM & HFR Grant Preproposal Launch:
January 21st
Western State Fire Managers (WSFM) Grant: Projects emphasize hazard fuel reduction in the WUI, information and education, and assessment and planning efforts to reduce wildfire risk. The project must be explicitly identified in a CWPP, Hazard Mitigation Plan, or equivalent document. Coordination with the County entity responsible for maintaining the CWPP is required.
Hazardous Fuel Reduction (HFR) Grant: Projects seek to modify fire behavior through the treatment/reduction of hazard fuels and take place within 1.5 miles of a federal project with similar fire mitigation objectives.
Eligible entities include:
- State, county, and local agencies
- Non-profit (501c3) organizations
- Tribes
- Educational Institutions
A limited number of project proposals for each program will be selected for full development and submission to Western competition. Additional information about the HFR & WSFM programs, as well as the FY26/27 Project Proposal Packets, will be available on 1/21 at the IDL Grant Webpage.
