Weather Warning: North Idaho
Currently in the vicinity of Bonner's Ferry Idaho there is an active NOAA alert for flooding and heavy rainfall along the Kootenai river. The Clark Fork area (~300 residents) access road has been cut off by this flooding.
Conditions throughout the region are muddy and sloppy with saturated ground. There is increased risks of access road failures, slide offs and downed trees.
Weather forecasts show a few days break from the rain, but precipitation is expected to resume for most of next week.
Use extreme caution when travelling in the area and ensure that others know where you will be at all times. It is recommended that fieldwork be conducted with a partner while these conditions persist.
Additionally, NOAA reports minor flooding on the Coeur d'Alene River at Cataldo, and the St. Joe river at Calder. Be aware of conditions in these areas as well and travel with caution.
As always, wherever you are at in the state, please check the weather before travel and fieldwork, and make sure your office knows where you are at!
