Fire restrictions put in place for eastern Idaho due to ‘extremely dry’ conditions

IDAHO FALLS – State and federal land management agencies have put fire restrictions in place for all of eastern Idaho as it enters the heart of wildfire season.
The Eastern Idaho Interagency Fire Center, which coordinates resource sharing between multiple agencies and dozens of local fire departments to battle wildland fires, said in a news release that Stage 1 fire restrictions would go into effect Thursday, Aug. 7. “Right now, we are in such dry conditions that if a fire gets away from you, you are going to end up paying for it,” said State Fire Warden Kelly Hoffer of the Idaho Department of Lands.

As the threat of wildfire danger continues to increase, state and federal land management agencies will implement Stage 1 Fire Restrictions on lands within eastern Idaho effective August 07, 2025, at 12:01 a.m. Fire restrictions are intended to decrease the chance of any preventable fires in the designated areas.
Stage 1 fire restrictions will be in place on federal, state and private forest and rangelands, roads, and trails, situated in Bannock, Bear Lake, Bingham, Bonneville, Butte, Caribou, Clark, Franklin, Fremont, Jefferson, Madison, Power, Oneida, and Teton counties.
Stage 1 fire restrictions begin tomorrow across 14 eastern Idaho counties

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) — As wildfire danger increases, the Eastern Idaho Interagency Fire Center is implementing Stage 1 fire restrictions on federal, state, and private lands across 14 counties, effective at 12:01 a.m. tomorrow, August 7.
The restrictions apply to Bannock, Bear Lake, Bingham, Bonneville, Butte, Caribou, Clark, Franklin, Fremont, Jefferson, Madison, Power, Oneida, and Teton counties.
