Hatwai Fire – Update

June 1, 2025, 11:30 AM PT

The Hatwai Fire northeast of Lewiston grew to about 250 acres overnight and is 50 percent contained. Firefighters worked throughout the night and relief crews replaced them this morning.

Winds have slowed down a bit with no current active fire behavior. Crews are actively securing the fire line and are moving into mop up, working to get ahead of potential problems from the wind.

The Nez Perce County Sheriff has lifted all evacuation orders.

There are currently between 40-50 personnel fighting the fire with 8 engines, one water tender and a dozer on standby.

Idaho Department of Lands is being assisted by the US Forest Service, Nez Perce County Fire, Nez Perce Tribal Fire and rural fire districts.
