Hatwai Fire

Idaho Department of Lands (IDL) crews are on the ground for the 50-acre Hatwai Fire near Lewiston. The fire is located near Hatai and 42^nd Street North, northeast of Lewiston. Windy conditions create a challenge for firefighters. One structure has burned.

Nez Perce County Sheriff and Idaho State Police (ISP) have evacuated some areas. The Sheriff’s Office is responsible for evacuations and evacuation notices. ISP is requesting people stay out of the area. They have closed access from Hatwai and 36^th over to the Central Grade and may expand the closure area within the hour. They ask people to stay out of the area so firefighters can maintain safe access.

Current resources include 8 engines and 1 water tender. Agencies assisting IDL include Nez Perce County Fire, Nez Perce Tribal Fire and at least one contracted engine.
