Manley Creek Road Fire – Update

Wednesday, May 28, 2025, 12:00 PM PT

Idaho Department of Lands (IDL) fire crews are securing the fire line and mopping up the Manly Creek Road Fire near Laclede in Bonner County.

An IDL drone flew over the fire this morning looking for hot spots and spot fires. The fire is currently estimated to be 10 acres. There are currently 47 personnel on the fire, mopping up hot spots and improving the fire line.

Crews will continue to set up a progressive hose lay around the perimeter. A hose lay is a system of hoses put in place that firefighters can quickly access if there is a flare-up.

On Tuesday afternoon (5/27), IDL was called to a structure fire that quickly spread to a wildland fire. There was no additional growth overnight as firefighters were able to put a line around the fire and spot fires last night, keeping a 4-person module on the fire. A module is a stand-alone group of initial attack firefighters.

All fires under IDL protection are investigated and IDL investigators were on the scene last night. State Fire Marshal investigators are there today.

Weather is expected to be hotter and windier today.

Fire resources include:

  • Selkirk Fire and Rescue is focused on the structure fire

  • 4 IDL engines

  • 2 Forest Service modules – Kaniksu Wildfire Module and Pulaski Hand Crew

  • 1 IDL initial attack module

  • 2 water tenders with portable water tanks, and

  • The Type 2 helicopter is on standby until 2 p.m.
