Idaho Forest Products Industry:
The Timber Management Bureau has been working on developing our new Timber Settlement System over the past year. We are happy to announce that we are going live with our new system, 3Log, this month. We will be running settlement for the month of March in our legacy system and our new system. This will allow us to compare reports to make sure calculations are reasonable for billing.
There is one main difference between our old system to our new system I would like to highlight for you. Our legacy system calculated our expansion factors using load summary information. This means the volume per species per load (i.e. 3MBF DFL and 3MBF GFHAF per load). The new system will be using log-level data per load to do the expansion. The calculation for payment remains the same, but the level of detail is finer in the new system.
You might see differences in the Stumpage Summary Report in “To Date” volume and value. The difference may be above or below your prior statement. We are zeroing out the new system for the value that 3Log calculates as you have paid your settlement in full to date.
Please reach out if you would like to discuss the new system and calculations in greater detail.
We will be working as fast as we can to produce the statements by 4/3/2025. However, we might need a grace period of a couple days if we run into issues with the new system. Your patience is appreciated. Please reach out if you have not received your statement by the end of the week (4/4/2025 COB).
Please forward to your financial department personnel if they are not on this distribution.
Sincerely,
Jeremy Shawver
