Multiple fires spread northeast of Lewiston, Idaho after huge lightning event Wednesday, July 24

Multiple structures lost, entire town of Juliaetta evacuated

All-hands on deck wildfire response as heat of day/wind pushes fire, evacuations continue

Evacuation relief sites for Latah County Fires are at the Latah County Fair and Events Center

The barns are open for stalling animals, and the East Field (Carnival Area) is open for RV, Trailers, and Vehicles.

Other Evacuation relief centers are the Troy High School and the LDS Church off of Big Meadow Rd.

There are also several people who have offered their residences for animals. Send Latah County Sheriff’s Office a message and they can direct you to the appropriate people.

Location: South of Juliaetta Idaho, about 30 miles outside Lewiston

near State Highway 3 in Latah County

Jurisdiction: Nez Perce Reservation/Idaho Department of Lands

Location: East End of Arrow Highline Road, west of the town of Myrtle in Latah County along Clearwater River

· Be aware of and follow all fire restrictions

· During closed burn season, before burning debris apply for a free burn permit – it’s the law

· Use campfires safely by staying clear of flammable debris and burning on mineral soil

· Maintain vehicles and OHVs properly – especially their tires - so you don’t spark a fire

· Secure trailer chains so they don’t drag and cause a fire

· Never park over dry grass because hot exhaust systems can start a fire
