Texas Fire

Date of Origin: Monday, July 15, 2024, approx. 4:00 PM PT

Location: East of Kendrick, Idaho

Estimated Size: 60 to 100 acres

Current situation:

Idaho Department of Lands firefighters are aggressively attacking a wildland fire outside Kendrick, Idaho in the Potlach River Canyon near the junction of Texas Ridge Road and Cedar Ridge Road.

20 to 40 structures are currently threatened. Evacuations are in effect and being handled by the Latah County Sheriff’s office. For more information regarding the evacuations go to:

4 helicopters, Single Engine Air Tankers (SEATs), 4 engines and Air Attack have been ordered and are currently fighting the fire. 3 additional engines and hand crews have also been ordered.

· Use campfires safely by staying clear of flammable debris and burning on mineral soil

· Maintain vehicles and OHVs properly – especially their tires - so you don’t spark a fire

· Secure trailer chains so they don’t drag and cause a fire

· Never park over dry grass because hot exhaust systems can start a fire
