CURRENT STATUS:
Yesterday, incident resources executed targeted fire line tactics on the few remaining hot spots on the Billy Creek Fire. Despite the challenging hot, dry and windy weather, firefighters did not observe any heat or smoke in the areas of concern. All known hotspots along the fire's edge have been thoroughly checked and addressed. With minimal heat remaining, there is minimal concern for any additional fire growth.
Today, firefighting personnel will backhaul equipment out of the fire area and continue to patrol and monitor the area for any undetected heat. Structure protection personnel will complete assessments of structures along the Snake River corridor and leave the local unit with a plan for use on future fires.
WEATHER AND FIRE BEHAVIOR:
Today will be about 7 degrees cooler than yesterday. Temperatures across the fire area will range from 90F to 100F, and humidity will be in the mid-teens. Northwest winds in the afternoon will gust 20-25 mph.
CLOSURES AND EVACUATIONS:
There are no closures or evacuations at this time.
