Texas billionaire brothers planning to sell 60,000 acres of land across Adams, Valley and Boise counties
KTVB, 2-17-24
BOISE, Idaho — Texas billionaire brothers are looking to sell tens of thousands of acres of land in Southwest Idaho.
The land sprawls across about 60,000 acres in Adams, Valley and Boise counties and is listed for $150 million. Dan and Farris Wilks started buying hundreds of thousands of acres across the Gem State around 2016.
Controversy sprouted around the billionaire brothers' land in 2018, when their company DF Development put up a set of gates and 'No Trespassing' signs at Boise Ridge Road, a Forest Service road in Boise County that leads to public lands. Road access was open to the public under the land's previous owners.
Now, the Wilks brothers are trying to sell some of their property, including the Boise County land that sparked the 2018 controversy.

Fire Fuel Reduction in Pocatello
KPVI, 2-13-24
Residents of Pocatello and Chubbuck might have seen smoke rising off the east bench today.
The Pocatello Fire Department conducted live burns this afternoon to reduce fuel in the area. Using a grant from the Idaho Department of Lands, vegetation in the region was thinned last year. Crews built sixty woodpiles in Pocatello, west of Sister City Park, near Granite Drive.
"The whole goal is to reduce fuels so that if a wildfire is to start, that we can try to get the upper hand on it and prevent loss of structures,” said Kim Stouse, a risk reduction specialist with the Pocatello Fire Department.
After waiting a year for the wood to dry and for the weather conditions to be just right, the piles are being burned. Twelve piles were burned today, and the rest will be burned as the weather permits.
