Safety Committee Member Transition
Our recent recruitment efforts for Safety Committee members have been successful!
Three of our Safety Committee members, Amy Johnson, Tim Gates, and Tim Cox will be leaving the committee.
All three have been instrumental in bringing various safety projects to completion. Their knowledge and experience will be missed, but we will continue to rely on their expertise with specific projects. Their committee work was above their normally assigned duties and exemplifies the type of dedication that make IDL such a great place to work! Be sure to thank them for their efforts and commitment to the safety and well-being of you and your workplace.
New Safety Committee members!
Please join me in welcoming our newest Safety Committee members:
- Tanya Smith-Office Specialist II, Maggie Creek
- James Thum-Oil & Gas Program Manager-Boise
- Mike Slack, Mechanic-CDA Shop
All three bring a background in safety and will provide valuable input and ideas for our employee and workplace safety. We appreciate their dedication to helping make IDL a safer place to work. Please join me welcoming them to the committee.

Office Emergency Response
Now is a good time to refresh yourself with the location of fire extinguishers, AEDs, first aid kits, and Emergency Response Plans in your office.
It's important that you are familiar with the location of each of these emergency response tools so you can respond quickly and efficiently during an emergency.
If you need assistance or are not up to date with your training in any one of these tools, see your Office Safety Coordinator.
Holiday Stress
Holidays are fun, active, and unfortunately can sometimes be extra stressful. The time seems to go by too fast and there just isn't enough of it. We put extra pressure on ourselves to get a lot done, attend events, and in general we are just busier than normal.
If holiday stress is getting to you (or even if it isn't!), click the link below to the American Psychiatric Association's "Seven Ways to Cope with Holiday Stress" to read ways to help get you through.
Also, our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides confidential, short-term counseling services. This is a great resource for benefit eligible employees and their dependents.

Seven Ways to Cope with Holiday Stress
One topic that isn't in the "Seven Ways..." article is having fun! Be sure to take the time to enjoy being with loved ones and appreciating the joy in children (whether young or adult).
Happy Holidays everyone! Thank you for a great 2023!
