Fire growth stopped on Old Ahsahka Fire

(Orofino, ID) – Diligent work by fire crews has stopped forward spread of the Old Ahsahka Fire and established control lines around the majority of the fire. The fire is still considered 0% contained and tomorrow firefighters will work to further secure the fire and begin mop up.

Today there were 4 hand crews, 3 helicopters, 2 dozers, overhead personnel, and 1 water tender working on the fire. More accurate mapping is taking place and an update on acres will be given once mapping is completed.

No structures have been lost and there have been no injuries. All road closures have been lifted. All powerlines in the area have been repaired and reactivated. The North Idaho Type 3 Incident Management Team will take command of the fire tomorrow morning.

Cooperating agencies are the Clearwater-Potlatch Timber Protective Association, Idaho Department of Lands, Nez Perce Tribe, US Forest Service, Orofino Fire Department, Sunnyside Fire Department, and Clearwater County Sherrif.
