Parkway Fire Holding at 80 Acres and 10% Contained, Evacuation Partially Lifted

Post Falls, Idaho – Supported by an aggressive air attack, firefighters continued to hold the Parkway Fire at 80 acres today. Fire officials report the fire is now 10% contained.

Firefighters on the day crew will work until approximately 10 pm tonight; a night shift with two engines will patrol the fire until morning, focusing on ensuring structures are protected and increasing containment.

No structures have been lost.

Fire officials carefully monitored today’s suppression efforts and this evening announced the evacuation order had been partially lifted. For current evacuation information please visit the Kootenai County Emergency Management website or Facebook page.

Fire investigators ask that if you are a first-hand witness to the fire’s ignition, and have credible information to share, please call 208-666-8697 or email investigation@idl.idaho.gov.

Fire officials are also grateful for the outpouring of community support, and that no private drones encroached upon the incident’s airspace today. If your drone is in the air, aircraft fighting the fire must be grounded.

The next incident update will publish tomorrow morning.
