Parkway Fire within 200 Feet of Homes, Kootenai Sheriff’s Office Preparing for Evacuations

Idaho Department of Lands is on the scene of the 15-acre Parkway Fire next to the Spokane River by the dam near Post Falls.  The fire is within 200 feet of homes and the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office has ordered evacuations in the area. More information about evacuations can be found on the Kootenai County Emergency Management Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/kootenaiOEM

This fire is being fought by both air and on the ground with multiple aircraft responding (including helicopters and fixed wing) along with two (2) hand crews, three (3) engines, and a dozer.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Remember, never fly a drone near a wildfire incident. If your drone is in the air, we must ground our aircraft, which puts the lives of wildland firefighters at risk.
