Despite Windy Conditions, Tyson Fire Containment Lines Hold, Crews Mopping Up

Fernwood, ID – Containment lines completed yesterday by firefighters battling the Tyson Fire held through the night. Today crews will continue securing the lines and begin mopping up the edges of the fire.

Mop-up operations will likely take several days due to the size of the fire and the fuels it is burning in.

Due to more accurate mapping, the size of the incident has been updated to 150 acres. Fire officials report the fire is 15% contained and this number is likely to increase as crews make progress securing the established control lines.

The Idaho Department of Lands is grateful for the assistance provided by the many cooperators and contracted resources and for their continued support.
