IDL Fighting Tyson Fire West of Fernwood, Resources Mobilized, More En Route

 

Fernwood, ID – Idaho Department of Lands wildland firefighters are aggressively suppressing the Tyson Fire which was discovered in logging slash at 4:30 pm PT this afternoon. The fire is located near mile marker 8 ½ on Tyson Creek Road, about 5 miles west of Fernwood.

Dispatch reported that as of 5:40 pm the fire had burned 25 acres.

Heavy equipment along with multiple IDL engines are battling the blaze with air support. The complement of aircraft fighting the fire include single engine air tankers (SEATs), a Fire Boss and IDL’s Type 2 helicopter. Additional aircraft have been ordered and more personnel have been dispatched to the incident.

As a reminder, never fly a personal drone near a wildfire incident. When you fly a drone, our aircraft must be grounded. This puts the lives of firefighters at risk!
