Safety Program Employee Award
Last year a Safety Program employee recognition award was implemented to begin with the 2023 Employee of the Year Awards. Nomination requests for both of these awards have recently been sent to managers. Below is information regarding the Safety Program Award and criteria. Please give some thought to a deserving employee and submit your nomination to your manager.
Employee safety is a priority at IDL. It is recognized that certain employees go above and beyond to identify safety issues, take action to mitigate safety issues, and follow through to ensure the completion of actions needed. Therefore, IDL has implemented a Safety Program Employee Award that will be presented in conjunction with the annual Employee of the Year Awards.
Safety Program Employee Award Criteria:
- Demonstrates commitment to the health and safety of employees by identifying safety issues within their home office or for all IDL employees.
- Takes actions and makes recommendations to prevent employee injuries or illness.
- Recognizes unsafe conditions or practices and works to resolve issues.
- Consistently makes safety a priority.
Please contact me if you have any questions.
Building Drills
Every year, your Safety Committee identifies and prioritizes safety issues and concerns that impact you. We then actively pursue mitigation. This year, one of the safety issues we identified was building drills and placed it as a priority safety project.
Most IDL offices have not conducted any type of drill for several years. To resolve this, each Safety Committee members was assigned two offices to work with the Office Safety Coordinator, Area Manager, or Senior Manager to provide assistance with coordinating and conducting drills. You may have already participated in one.
In addition, we felt it would be helpful to develop a tool to assist with determining how to conduct a drill, what type of drill to conduct, and what to do afterwards. The Building Drill Guide is located at the Safety Program SharePoint site. This guide is designed to assist with planning and conducting drills. An After Action Review template was also created for identifying successes and improvements needed. Below is a link to both.
Building drills are critical to ensure your safety and the safe evacuation of all employees in an emergency situation. Please take them seriously and provide feedback to your Safety Coordinator after each drill.
