ICA Approves Recreation Resolution, Calls for State Task Force
Last week IDL staff attended the Idaho Cattle Association's annual convention. Approaches to addressing the ever-increasing recreational impacts on Idaho's public land were deliberated by association members.
These discussions resulted in the passage of a resolution which asks state officials to create a task force to "enact more meaningful, focused management of recreation." The resolution also directed ICA leadership to collaborate with stakeholders to find solutions to the challenges presented by increased recreational pressures on public lands.
IDL Staff Reminded that Safety is the Top Priority for Next Week's All Staff Meeting
The All Staff meeting is being held in Moscow next week. The director sent an email to employees to remind them safety is the top priority.
He assured employees steps are being taken. He wrote:
First, the recent tragic murders of the University of Idaho students are certain to be front and center on most people’s minds as we prepare to meet in Moscow next week. To that end, we have been working closely with the University Inn to ensure that safety is the top priority. The hotel will be implementing hotel card access for all exterior doors starting at 6pm, aside from the main lobby and west entrance. Additionally, the hotel will be staffing the hotel parking lot with security guards from 10pm – 6am. Hotel staff are required to wear name badges, so while at the meeting, please wear your lanyard and nametag provided at check-in. We have many new employees across the agency and our nametags will identify who belongs at our event and who doesn’t.
Winter driving tips were also provided for staff.
