Noise Complaints at Fire Cache
In the past, neighbors in the subdivision adjacent to the Coeur d'Alene Interagency Fire Cache complained to IDL about noise resulting from hose washing operations. In response, last summer IDL made the expensive switch from gas to electric powered pressure washers.
This change did not satisfy the neighbors, as they pivoted to complaining about noise from conversations between staff working near the property boundary. We have discussed being respectful to our neighbors with our team. We are also committed to working with our neighbors to address their concerns by taking steps to reduce the overall noise of our operations, provided those measures are cost effective and do not adversely impact the Fire Cache’s important mission.
Encouraging Participation in Employee Engagement Survey
Director Miller reached out to all IDL employees to encourage participation in the Idaho Employee Engagement Survey. The deadline for completing the survey in November 30.
The director stressed the survey is completely confidential and does not tie responses back to individual employees, as the survey will be done through a third-party survey organization. He assured employees that the leadership team will only see anonymized, combined data for groups of four or more respondents.
The email the director sent stated:
"I hope that 100% of IDL employees participate. As your Director, I am eager for the feedback from you all. The leadership team and I will be analyzing this data which will help us improve upon and strengthen our leadership, culture, and IDL workforce."
The survey is based on a snapshot of IDL's employee list from mid-September when there were temporary employees employed by the agency. Since these seasonal staff members no longer work for IDL, they will not be counted in calculating IDL's response rate.
