Quinn Fire Update 10:30 AM PT

Date of Origin: 08/16/2022 17:30 PT

Location: Breaks of Wolf Creek in the Joseph Plains Area

Managing District: IDL Craig Mountain Forest Protection District

Estimated Size: 450 acres

Containment: 50%

Personnel: 150

Current situation

Yesterday crews successfully completed burn out operations on the north end down into Wolf Creek. The operations held overnight and crews secured it today.

Today crews will do a burn out on the south end of the fire into Wolf Creek.

There are currently no structures threatened, no evacuations in place, and no road closures.

The Haines Index (HI), which is a numerical value that indicates the potential for large wildfires to experience extreme fire behavior, has gone down from a six and is currently a five. This means there is a moderate potential for an existing fire to become large or exhibit erratic fire behavior because of a dry and unstable lower atmosphere.

Resources on the fire remain at 150 personnel including four type 2 initial attack crews, one dozer, four engines, and aircraft as needed.

Cooperating Agencies: Idaho Dept. of Lands, U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Fish & Wildlife, and the Bureau of Land Management.

Additional information on the Quinn Fire will be posted as it becomes available on the IDL webpage at www.idl.idaho.gov/fire
