FIRE INFORMATION NEWS RELEASE

PRIEST LAKE LIONS ROAR FIRE
Size: 55 acres (25 acre increase)
- Current Containment: 0%
- Resources on Fire:
- Total personnel = 90
- Engines = 4
- Bulldozers = 1
- Helicopters = 3
- Air tankers = 0
- Fire bosses = 4
- Excavator = 1
- Water Tender = 2
- Crews = 3
- Resources Ordered: Crew =1
Yesterday’s Activity: Initial attack in logging slash combined with steep and rocky terrain is making containment difficult. Crews have established hose-lays along roads and trails.
Today’s Plans: Utilize heavy equipment open up old roads to allow firefighters to engage the fire. Continue to use aircraft to slow the spread of the fire. Begin direct handline along fire flanks.
The local fire district will in-brief with a North Idaho Type 3 Incident Management Team (McManus) with a tentative transition date of 0700 Thursday.
Weather and Fire Behavior: Moderate fire behavior. Short uphill runs and isolated torching. Temperatures in the mid-90’s with a max RH 35%. Chance of thunderstorms throughout the day Wednesday into Thursday. A light rain fell over the fire area, less than a tenth of an inch.
Bonner County Sheriff initiated a READY alert for Priest Lake State Park-Lionhead Unit and residents of Sandpiper Shores
Restrictions or Road/Trail Closures: Lion Creek Road #42 and Lucky Creek Road #43 are currently closed for fire suppression activities until further notice.
Remarks or Special Concerns: No evacuations ordered.
