JFAC advances IDAHO WORKS transportation funding plan
Boise, Idaho – Governor Brad Little commented today on the Joint Finance-Appropriations Committee advancing his recommendation for increased transportation funding.
The committee approved Governor Little’s recommendation for an additional $200 million to continue fixing Idaho’s 900 outdated bridges and an additional $302 million ongoing for road maintenance and safety projects. Local cities and counties receive 40% of this funding, making this not only an investment in infrastructure but also a win for property tax relief.
“Idaho is among the fastest growing states in the country. One of the most basic duties of government is to invest in transportation projects to keep up with the growth and ensure everyone’s safety on the road. The strength of our economy also depends on our businesses’ ability to get their product to market. The necessary improvements to roads, bridges, and safety projects will help keep our state one of the strongest in the nation. I am grateful to my legislative partners for their wisdom in prioritizing added transportation investments,” Governor Little said.
In recent years, Governor Little and the Idaho Legislature have championed historic transportation investments without raising taxes or fees to address the significant safety and deferred maintenance gaps confirmed by external studies.
