READ: To eradicate quagga mussels and protect our water, we need your help
Water is the lifeblood of our state – fueling agriculture, hydropower, recreation, and wildlife habitat. I’m proud of our aggressive attack against the invasive quagga mussels – but the fight is not over. Thank you Lt. Governor Scott Bedke for raising awareness about this issue!
"Quagga mussels have the potential to affect the entire Columbia River Basin, eliminate Idaho’s diverse ecological landscapes, and cause hundreds of millions of dollars in direct and indirect costs to the state and taxpayer.
Luckily, ISDA, Gov. Brad Little’s Office, and other state agencies detected the mussels early and within days, initiated a two-phase rapid response treatment plan.
Thanks to the tireless efforts of the ISDA, the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality, Idaho Fish and Game, and a myriad of partnering organizations, the treatment for the quagga mussel in the Snake River has been successfully completed.
While this is good news, it does not mean the threat from this aggressive species is gone.
We must remain vigilant. While the rapid response and treatment of the Snake River shows signs of being successful, the threat is not over. Every single person, animal, and plant in the State of Idaho depends on clean water — but it is up to all of us to help keep our shared water clear of invasive species."

READ: Idaho Sen. Risch pitches Don't DO IT Act against Lava Ridge project
"Idahoans have been loud and clear on Lava Ridge: Don’t DO IT!"
States need to be at the table driving new energy resources, and this legislation will make the federal government more responsive to states’ voices in future energy development.
"In May, Idaho U.S. Sen. Jim Risch grilled Interior Secretary Deb Haaland about the proposed Lava Ridge Wind Project, repeatedly — and sometimes animatedly — telling her: “Don’t do it!”
On the floor of the U.S. Senate on Wednesday, Risch introduced a bill by that name that would prohibit any wind or solar energy project proposed for public lands that was disapproved by the Legislature of that state.
Lava Ridge was his catalyst.
“Idahoans have been loud and clear on Lava Ridge: Don’t DO IT! Yet, the Department of the Interior is still moving full speed ahead,” Risch said in a news release. “The Don’t DO IT Act will empower Idaho and other states to prevent the federal government from implementing unwanted, obstructive, and misaligned wind and solar energy projects on public land, like Lava Ridge.”
If given the green light, Lava Ridge would place up to 400 turbines — many taller than the 605-foot Space Needle, the spectacular focal point of the Seattle skyline — across nearly 230 square miles of public lands in Jerome, Lincoln and Minidoka counties."

Montpelier becomes Capital for the Day!
!am proud to continue the legacy of one of my favorite traditions as Governor - holding "Capital for a Day" events monthly throughout Idaho.
Thank you to the Bear Lake County community for welcoming us this week!
This important event gives my Cabinet members and me a chance to listen to the people of Idaho, allowing citizens to ask questions and offer their suggestions directly to state government leaders.
The most important this is allowing people the freedom, and the luxury, to ask their questions.
I look forward to announcing more "Capital for a Day" events soon and meeting more Idahoans in every corner of the state!
