Dear First,
Double your hunting adventure in Idaho this fall when
you buy a discounted second deer
and/or elk tag.
On August 1, 2014, unsold nonresident general season deer and
elk tags were discounted for all hunters as a second tag. A second
elk tag is $299; a second deer tag is $199.
The
unsold nonresident general season deer and elk tags have long been available for
purchase as a second tag, but at regular nonresident prices. In July,
the Idaho Fish and Game Commission voted to discount unsold tags.

Nonresident License Includes a Fishing License
Wherever you hunt in Idaho, there's remarkable fishing close by - salmon, steelhead, cutthroat trout, bass, sturgeon and more. The nonresident hunting license includes a 3-day fishing license for most species, except salmon and steelhead. However, nonresidents can purchase a 3-day salmon/steelhead permit. Check out the Fishing Planner.

 Over-the-Counter Tags
Residents and nonresidents can buy over-the-counter
tags in Idaho to hunt deer, elk, turkey, bear, lion and wolves. A general season elk tag is connected to a specific elk zone, but all other general season tags can be used
in any general hunt in the state for the selected species. General tags
include many, but not all, of the game units and elk zones.
What to know about over-the-counter tags:
- Over-the-counter tags are general season tags and can be purchased up to the day you go hunting.
- General deer tags include most hunting units
- General elk tags cover most elk zones.
Controlled hunts are used to manage harvest in highly
popular units and zones. If you applied for a controlled hunt and didn't
draw, you can still hunt in Idaho this fall with a general season tag.
