Idaho Conservation Officer Named Pogue-Elms Law Enforcement Officer of the Year
Idaho Fish and Game Conservation Officer Chad Wippermann has been named the 2022 Pogue-Elms Law Enforcement Officer-of-the-Year. The award is presented by the Western Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies (WAFWA) and is considered one of the most prestigious awards given a wildlife officer in North America.

When it comes to fishing, bigger is better! That's where the Western Native Trout Challenge comes in as the heavy weight, combining the best of all the western trout slam programs. Seriously, what other trout slam program offers the challenge to catch up to 18 species of native trout across 12 states from Alaska to Arizona?

First sockeye of 2023 returned to Stanley area on July 26
Idaho Fish and Game staff on July 26 trapped the first sockeye of the 2023 run in the upper Salmon River near Stanley. Through July 26, there were 1,295 sockeye counted at Lower Granite Dam about 30 miles downstream from Lewiston, which is well above the 10-year average of 754 sockeye crossing the dam by that date.

Kid’s Creek and Blue Mountain Meadow ponds stocked with jack Chinook salmon
Fish and Game's Pahsimeroi Hatchery staff released 37 jack Chinook salmon in Kid’s Creek Pond and 47 jacks in Blue Mountain Meadow Pond Wednesday, July 26. Kid’s Creek Pond is a small fishing pond along Highway 93 in Salmon with good trout fishing. Blue Mountain Meadow Pond is an easy-to-access pond adjacent to the golf course in Challis.

Walleye fishery update in Salmon Falls Creek Reservoir
Salmon Falls Creek Reservoir, located in Southern Idaho near Rogerson, is a popular fishery, particularly for walleye. The reservoir, located within the Magic Valley Region is one of only three managed walleye fisheries in the state.
