June 5th Deadline for Controlled Hunts Applications

Dear Sportsman,

If you haven’t already applied, don’t forget to put in for Idaho’s controlled hunts before the June 5 deadline!

It’s going to be another great hunting season in Idaho this fall. Both white-tailed and mule deer numbers are some of the best we’ve seen in many years, and elk populations are improving in many parts of the state.

This means there are excellent hunting opportunities in Idaho with more controlled hunt tags available this coming fall.

Visit the Fish and Game website for application information, or apply now online. *

* If you are reading this email on your mobile device, the online site for purchasing applications, tags and licenses will work differently than the table-top computer version.

Super Hunt Drawings - May 31st is the entry deadline for the 1st Super Hunt drawing.  Super Hunt tags allow 34 lucky hunters to pursue elk, deer, pronghorn, and/or a moose in any open hunt.  Increase your odds by purchasing multiple entries. You can purchase as many entries as you want. Don’t miss out, submit your entries today

If you miss the 1st drawing, entry deadline for the 2nd Super Hunt drawing is August 10th.  Money raised by the drawings support Fish and Game’s Access Yes! program.

Over-the-Counter Tags - If a controlled hunt doesn’t fall your way, you can still hunt deer and elk in Idaho.  The state’s general season, over-the-counter tags are available for most game units and elk zones.

Starting August 1, unsold nonresident general season tags can be purchased as a second deer and elk tag by both residents and nonresidents.

Upland Birds - Do you hunt upland birds?  Idaho offers hunting for 10 upland game bird species, including chukar, quail, gray partridge, and ruffed grouse on millions of acres of public land. Season lengths are long, and many upland bird seasons are open at the same time as big game seasons.

Nonresident License Bonus - Did you know an nonresident Idaho hunting license includes a 3-day fishing license? If you are traveling to Idaho to hunt, make some time to go fishing! Thirty-four different game fish can be found in Idaho, from mountain lakes to lowland reservoirs.

Salmon and steelhead are an exception. To fish for these, you will need to purchase a 3-day salmon/steelhead license or an annual license and appropriate permit.
