Economists expect labor market to remain strong through 2024
Research Analyst Supervisor Craig Shaul presented the Idaho Department of Labor’s 2024 labor market outlook to the Economic Outlook Revenue Assessment Committee in early January. The committee’s purpose is to make an overall assessment of Idaho’s economic outlook and General Fund revenues. Committee members listen to the insights of business professionals, economists and state officials over several days before beginning preliminary discussions for setting the annual state budget.
Idaho job growth projected to increase annually through 2025
Idaho’s annual projected employment growth rate of 1.2% signals the state’s labor market is expected to remain strong in the coming year. Job creation is also expected to remain strong, reaching total employment of nearly 900,000 in 2025, according to new short-term projections from the Idaho Department of Labor.
While snow removal is just part of a highway maintenance worker’s overall job description, it is certainly one that helps this career prosper in Idaho.

Idaho Department of Labor Economist Ryan Whitesides will focus on the state’s rural economy during the next labor market webinar, set for Tuesday, Feb. 13. All webinars take place on the second Tuesday of each month from 11 a.m. to noon MST over Zoom.
