ACHD Welcomes New Commissioner,
Elects Leadership
ADA COUNTY — Ada County Highway District Commissioners are starting the new year with a new Commissioner and new leadership on the board.
Commissioner Patricia Nilsson officially began her term during Wednesday’s Commission meeting. She now represents District 1, succeeding Jim Hansen, who chose not to seek re-election after serving 12 years on the board.
"Joining the ACHD Commission is a tremendous opportunity to serve the community I care deeply about,” said Commissioner Nilsson. “I am committed to listening to the needs of residents and working toward innovative solutions that keep Ada County moving."
Commissioner Nilsson was joined by her husband, Mark, and her son, Joel. She was sworn in by the Honorable Patrick Miller, Ada County District Judge.
Commissioner Alexis Pickering and Commissioner Dave McKinney were also sworn in for their second terms. Commissioner Pickering, representing District 2, was joined by her husband, Justin, and son, Preston, and sworn in by Boise City Council President Colin Nash.
"I am honored to serve on the ACHD Commission and contribute to the continued improvement of transportation in Ada County," said Commissioner Alexis Pickering. "I look forward to working with my fellow Commissioners to make decisions that benefit the community and ensure a bright future."
Commissioner McKinney, who represents District 5, was joined by his wife, Wendy, and sworn in by Ada County Clerk Trent Tripple. He expressed his enthusiasm about continuing his role. "Serving on this Commission is both a privilege and a responsibility,” said Commissioner McKinney. “I’m eager to collaborate with my colleagues and the ACHD team to address the challenges and opportunities ahead."
Each January, the ACHD Board of Commissioners elects a president and vice president to lead the elected body for the year. Commissioner Miranda Gold was selected to serve as the new Commission president. As president, Commissioner Gold will conduct Commission meetings, set agendas for each meeting, and serve as the official spokesperson for the Commission. Commissioner Pickering was chosen to serve as the Commission’s vice president, taking on presidential duties in the president’s absence.
"I am grateful for the confidence of my colleagues in electing me as the 2025 ACHD Commission President," said President Gold. "I look forward to leading this Commission as we work together to advance transportation solutions that benefit the entire community."
