Jennifer Berenger- Women of the Year Honoree

ADA COUNTY —Jennifer Berenger, Deputy Director of Business Operations at the Ada County Highway District, has been selected as one of Idaho Business Review’s Women of the Year for 2024.

The Women of the Year awards, hosted by the Idaho Business Review, celebrate women who significantly contribute to Idaho’s economy and communities through exceptional leadership, mentorship, and service.

Berenger serves as ACHD’s Deputy Director of Business Operations, a newly formed department created earlier this year. In her role, Berenger is responsible for enhancing the operational efficiency of departments within ACHD, including safety and training, facilities management, I.T., and vehicle fleet operations. Additionally, she oversees the design and construction of two new maintenance yards and renovations of the District’s $16.4 million new headquarters building.

“Jennifer’s fierce leadership has elevated operations here at the District,” said Ryan Head, ACHD Director. “Her tenacity in taking on a brand new role, along with her unwavering commitment to serving the community makes her well-deserving of this recognition.”

Berenger’s journey at ACHD began as Deputy Director of Maintenance in 2020, where she oversaw the strategic planning and management of District-maintained infrastructure, covering over 5,000 lane miles of roadways in Ada County. She oversaw seasonal and year-round maintenance operations, including winter operations, chip seal, and preventative maintenance programs.

Before joining ACHD, Berenger served for 22 years in the U.S. Air Force, where she held leadership roles including Deputy Commander of the Mission Support Group at Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota, and Osan Air Base.

Originally from eastern Idaho, Berenger brings a wealth of experience and education to ACHD. She holds two master's degrees, including a Master of Public Administration, and an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering.

“Being recognized among such an incredible group of women is a true honor,” said Berenger. “I'm proud of the work we’re doing at ACHD to keep our communities moving forward efficiently and safely.”

Honorees were formally recognized at IBR's Women of the Year Gala Thursday evening.
