The Basics of Work Zone Safety

WorkZoneSafety
2020 NHTSA FARS and CRSS Work Zone Data Summary

Roadwork is a necessary part of improving transportation in Ada County, and work zones are created to keep both commuters and crews safe. There can be hazards that come with active roadwork so it’s important to take work zones seriously.

Here are a few ways to keep yourself and others safe:

  • Research Your Route - ACHD’s Roadwork in The Area (RITA) map is a great way to view current road projects in Ada County.
  • Pay Attention - Be aware of signage, workers, and vehicles not typically on your route.
  • Slow Down - Reduced speed limits are common within work zones.
  • Merge Safely - Check your blind spots and merge when it’s safe.
  • Keep your Distance - Give some space between you, the construction, and other cars.
  • Use the Detours - Follow the appropriate detour route for your mode of travel – some detour routes are exclusive to bicycles or pedestrians.

We’ve created RITA so you can be aware of current and future roadwork throughout the area.
