The purpose of the NNLM Region 6 Partner Outreach Program 2021 is to support health equity by providing health information access throughout Region 6 by the formation and practice of the Partner Outreach Program. Now Recruiting Health Centers for the Midwest Adolescent Health Project

The Adolescent Health Initiative (AHI) is recruiting health centers to participate in the Midwest Adolescent Health Project which seeks to build the capacity for adolescent-centered health care in rural and underserved communities. The goal of this project is to build capacity in pediatric and youth-serving practices in rural and underserved communities in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin to provide youth-friendly health care services for adolescents through engagement in the Adolescent-Centered Environment Assessment Process (ACE-AP). Newly Revised MedlinePlus Tutorial for Librarians and Health Educators Now Available

The MedlinePlus Tutorial for Librarians and Health Educators explains how to locate information on health conditions, drugs, supplements, genetics, and medical tests at MedlinePlus. Educators can now deepen their knowledge of the selection criteria and sources of MedlinePlus through hands-on exercises and knowledge checks. Designed to take about an hour to complete, this narrated tutorial also highlights additional tools and the authoritative sources from which MedlinePlus draws its health information.

The tutorial is worth one hour of continuing education credit from the Medical Library Association (MLA) and qualifies for MLA Consumer Health Information Specialization (CHIS) Level 1. Register and access this free online tutorial here



Addressing the Social Determinants of Health Of Black Men

The Health Resources and Services Administration’s (HRSA), Office of Intergovernmental and External Affairs (IEA) Region 5-Chicago, will host a webinar to address the social determinants of health of Black men. Dr. Marino Bruce will present the most salient structural and individual level social factors impacting health outcomes among Black men over the life course and across generations. Learn more and register here!



All of Us Community Engagement Network’s Award Applications Open!

Applications are open for the NNLM All of Us Community Engagement Network’s Community Awards! We invite public libraries and community-based organizations to apply to fund projects for health programming (up to $15,000 each) and digital information access (up to $40,000 each). This is a great opportunity to support online events, community outreach, loanable technology, and more! More information about the award and application process can be found on our website.
