OutAbout invites neighbors to connect on the first Sunday evening of each month. Residents are encouraged to step outside — either to walk around the neighborhood and visit with others or to host a casual stop in front of their home. A stop can be as simple as offering a chair, a light snack, or a friendly wave. Whether you’re new to the neighborhood or a long-time resident, OutAbout offers a simple and welcoming way to connect with others nearby. |

The City is partnering with Matt Evans, the creator of OutAbout, to share more about how the program works. Join us for a virtual session to hear how OutAbout is strengthening neighborhoods in other cities — and how easy it is to get started right here in Iowa City.
The virtual info session will be held via Zoom on Thursday, June 12, 2025, from 6 to 7 p.m. You can join the meeting at that time using the following link: Join the Zoom Meeting.

The City is proud to support this initiative and looks forward to growing it into a meaningful community tradition. To support this pilot, the City will provide yard signs and door hangers for anyone interested in hosting a stop. These materials help neighbors identify where stops are happening and encourage participation. |
