The Iowa City Public Library’s Summer 2025 Bookmobile schedule kicks off Monday, June 9, and runs through Friday, August 15. During this time, the Bookmobile will visit neighborhoods, parks, and community locations throughout Iowa City, offering convenient access to Library materials and services.
Before the summer schedule begins, the Bookmobile will be off the road for a seasonal service break from Monday, June 2, through Friday, June 6. During this brief pause, items placed on hold for Bookmobile pickup will be available instead at the Downtown Library. Visitors can stop by the Help Desk to retrieve these items through Friday, June 6.
To ensure everyone has time to pick up their materials, all Bookmobile holds will have extended pick-up dates through Friday, June 13. This allows patrons the flexibility to stop by any Bookmobile location during the first week of summer service.
If you have questions about your holds or need help finding your nearest stop, please call the Library at 319-356-5200 or use our online chat service.

In this inspiring guide, Suleika Jaouad explores journaling as a powerful tool for healing, reflection, and transformation. Drawing on her personal journey through illness and uncertainty, she invites readers to engage deeply with their inner lives. The Book of Alchemy offers encouragement, thoughtful prompts, and space to navigate the complexity of modern life with honesty, courage, and creativity.
A compelling and deeply researched account of the final phase of World War II, Rain of Ruin examines the devastating bombing campaigns on Japan, including Tokyo, Hiroshima, and Nagasaki. Overy offers a nuanced analysis that challenges common assumptions about Japan’s surrender, emphasizing internal political struggles and the broader strategic context. A thoughtful, multi-layered look at one of history’s most consequential moments.
Belinda Bauer weaves a gripping tale of obsession, crime, and lost treasure in this dual-timeline mystery spanning a hundred years. From a daring egg theft on Yorkshire’s cliffs in 1926 to a present-day search in rural Wales, The Impossible Thing explores the dark world of egg trafficking and a priceless relic gone missing. With vivid characters and rich suspense, Bauer asks a haunting question: how do you find something that doesn’t exist?
