Children of all ages and their families are invited to come to the Storytime Room with a goal of making homemade valentines for all of the residents of Featherstone, a local senior living community. We will have all of the creative supplies needed and a bit of information about the residents to help you make a custom valentine from the heart that will be sure to make someone's Valentine's Day extra special this year! We will deliver the Valentines when we visit Featherstone on the ICPL Bookmobile!
Join us for a free kids' yoga class for elementary age kids (K-6)! Certified Youth Yoga instructor Caroline Woods from the Preventive Health Center of Iowa City will be here to lead us in a 30-minute yoga practice catered for children! We will have mats on hand, but feel free to bring your own, and wear loose clothing.
A celebration of children's literature from the Iowa City UNESCO City of Literature and ICPL featuring author appearances, a book fair, workshops, crafts, Storytimes and a celebration of student writing--all free and open to the public!
Book to Art Club is the fourth Tuesday of every month for school age children. Each month we will read a picture book and create custom art inspired by the story!
To celebrate Black History Month, we will read a picture book about famous folk artist Clementine Hunter called “Art From Her Heart”, then we will recreate a mixed media painting based on one of her most famous subjects, zinnias!
