To receive a free tree seedling, pre-registration is required by March 15 at this link. This event is part of Neighborhood Forest's 16th Annual Free Tree Program, which has provided over 197,000 trees to children across the U.S. and Canada since 2010.
In addition, Iowa City residents are able to offset the cost of purchasing a tree valued up to $250 at either Earl May or Iowa City Landscaping through the City's Root for Trees program. The program provides vouchers for 50% or 90% of the total tree cost, which can be redeemed now through May 15, 2025. Voucher applications are available at icgov.org/root4trees.
Root for Trees and Neighborhood Forest are separate programs, and residents are welcome to participate in either one or both together.
