Update: Additional arrest made in stabbing investigation
An additional arrest has been made as the investigation into the May 6 fight in the 300 Block of South Gilbert Street continues.
Christopher Torres, 17, of Iowa City, faces two counts of Willful Injury Causing Serious Injury, and one count of Willful Injury Causing Bodily Injury.
Copies of the charges can be found online. A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

As a result of the ongoing investigation into the May 6 fight in the 300 Block of South Gilbert Street, Iowa City Police have made multiple arrests.
Victor A. Torres Molina, 28, of Iowa City, faces charges of Participate in a Riot and Assault While Participating in a Felony.
Lake M. Newton, 21, of West Liberty, faces charges of Willful Injury - Causing Serious Injury and Participate in a Riot.

At approximately 1:55 a.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2023, Iowa City Police responded to a large fight in the 300 Block of S. Gilbert St. Upon police arrival, multiple subjects fled the scene.
Police were able to locate three adult men who had suffered stab wounds. All three were transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for treatment of their injuries and are expected to recover.
Initial investigation has determined that the fight was among parties known to each other and that there is no direct threat to the general public. This incident remains under active investigation.
