The Iowa City Public Library (ICPL) is excited to announce the much-anticipated 2023 Summer Reading Program, which will run from June 1 to Aug. 5, 2023. A kickoff celebration, ABC Saturday (Arts, Books, & Children) at the Iowa Arts Festival, will be held from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. on June 3 on the Ped Mall.
Interested participants can sign up in-person at the Library, at the Bookmobile, online through Beanstack, or by printing and submitting a PDF of the Summer Reading log found at icpl.org/srp starting June 1. The program welcomes readers of all ages - from infants to adults - and is entirely free of cost.
All ages will earn a free prize book when they turn in a completed game card at the Library or Bookmobile by August 5.
Become an everyday hero at our interactive workshop on June 9, 2023, at 9 a.m. in Meeting Room A. Johnson County Ambulance Service paramedics will guide participants through vital life-saving techniques, such as Hands-Only CPR, AED usage, abdominal thrusts for choking, and major bleed control. Also, learn about PulsePoint, an app for potential lifesavers during cardiac arrest incidents.
The event includes sessions at 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m., and noon. Pre-registration is required with a limit of 30 people per session. If accommodations for disabilities are needed, please contact the Library in advance.
Don't miss this opportunity to gain crucial skills that can make a difference in emergency situations. Join us, and help build a safer community.
