Iowa City Police respond to Saturday night shooting
At 11:45 p.m., Saturday, May 13, 2023, Iowa City Police responded to the Clock Tower Parking Ramp at the intersection of Iowa Avenue and Gilbert Street after nearby officers heard multiple shots fired. While responding, police received multiple calls indicating one person had been shot.
Responding officers located an adult man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds on the sidewalk adjacent to the parking ramp on the Iowa Avenue side. Officers and first responders from the Iowa City Fire Department and Johnson County Ambulance Service provided aid to the man, who was transported to an area hospital to be treated for serious injuries.
The suspect was last seen fleeing the area on foot with several other people involved in an altercation preceding the shooting. No additional information is available at this time.
