Iowa City Fire Department responds to Sunday evening structure fire
The Iowa City Fire Department was called to a structure fire at 4462 Preston Lane on Sunday, April 10, 2022 at 7:11 p.m. Responding units arrived on scene at 7:16 p.m. and discovered a fire in the end unit of a two-story multi-unit condominium complex. Smoke was visible from the top of the garage door.
Firefighters entered the structure through the garage door and brought the fire under control by 7:30 p.m. The unit was occupied at the time of the fire and the occupants were able to exit safely after being alerted by smoke alarms. There were no injuries to occupants or firefighters.
The home sustained smoke and fire damage estimated at $40,000. The fire remains under investigation.
The Iowa City Fire Department was assisted by the Coralville Fire Department and Johnson County Ambulance.
