The Bookmobile will be stopping at two new places this fall. Come see us at Wilson’s Orchard & Farm at 4823 Dingleberry Rd. NE #1 each Wednesday from 1:30-2:45 p.m. and Sidekick Coffee & Books at 1310 1/2 Melrose Ave. on Fridays from 10-10:45 a.m.
We are delighted to connect with you at these locations in the community to share stories, support you with digital resources, register you for programs and events, and get great books, movies, and more checked out to you!
The Bookmobile hosts a popular materials collection featuring fantastic, new titles! Extra copies are purchased just for the Bookmobile, so some items on the Bookmobile bypass the holds queue. Be sure to browse the popular materials collection next time you join us at a stop.
Check out our collection of picture books waiting for you on the Bookmobile shelves!
Stop by the BOOkmobile during the Halloween Carnival for some frightful tales and a scaretastic craft!
Ghostly carnival games, spooky experiments, and prizes, oh my! This free Halloween-themed carnival is best served for children ages 10 and under. Halloween costumes are encouraged, but not required.
Did you know ICPL turns 125 this year? Help us read 125,000 books to celebrate 125 years of stories!
We are inviting everyone to continue logging their reading on Beanstack through the end of the year to help us reach our goal.
What do you like best about working on the Bookmobile?
The variety of people and places we visit is great! We get weekly visitors who find us while they’re getting groceries, children and families visiting after storytime in the parks, preschools and after-school programs, residents at senior communities and sometimes even dog visitors. It’s never dull on the Bookmobile!
How long have you worked at ICPL or the Bookmobile?
I have worked at ICPL in some capacity since I was a college student, so over 10 years, and I have been on the Bookmobile since the beginning! This is my fourth year riding and driving.
What are you currently watching, listening to, or reading?
I am reading "The Paris Library" by Jane Skeslien Charles, based on the true World War II story of the heroic librarians at the American Library in Paris. And I just finished the HBO show "Made for Love", which is based on a book and created for television by writer Alissa Nutting with her husband Dean Bakopoulos, whom I just discovered both live in Iowa City and teach at Grinnell College!
