On July 1, the Iowa City Public Library is expanding Library hours, removing the time limits for browsing, extending time limits for computer access, and lifting building and Bookmobile capacity restrictions. In addition to previously available services, the study and meeting rooms will be open to the public, and ICPL outreach services and programs will be offered offsite. Masks are suggested for those not yet vaccinated.
Library Director Elsworth Carman wants the public to be aware that "while our mask requirement ends July 1, we still ask that patrons be mindful of the many Library users who cannot yet be vaccinated—including children—and consider wearing a mask if not fully vaccinated. Community health is a shared responsibility, and we are so thankful for your help in keeping others safe."

Becky with West Music brings music education to the park for Storytime the last week in June. This musical program teaches fundamentals of rhythm, basic motor function, mental dexterity, healthy emotional expression, sociability, and much, much more.
In order to keep audience attendance safely low without requiring registration, we will offer the same Storytime over the course of the week, so please choose one park location to attend.
The ICPL bookmobile will be on site and open for checkout and browsing. Library cards can be issued and updated. In the event of rain, the program will be canceled, but the bookmobile will still be on site.
Schedule * Monday: Willow Creek Park, 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. * Wednesday: Wetherby Park, 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. * Friday: Mercer Park, 10:30 to 11:00 a.m.
This year the Summer Reading Program is very special because we are celebrating our 125th anniversary. To commemorate this special anniversary we are challenging the community to help us read 125,000 books this summer. At this point, more than eight thousand books have been read!
You can sign up for the program and retrieve game cards and prizes on the Bookmobile. The program is available to readers of all ages and abilities, babies through adults. Participants will receive a game card to track their summer reading goals.
You can watch the tracker increase as you log books for the Summer Reading Program!
We hope you can join us and help us to achieve our goal and make this challenge a memorable story.

1. What do you like best about working on the Bookmobile?
Working on the Bookmobile is great because it gives me the opportunity to get out of the building and really connect with people in the community. After a few visits, I'll remember your name and what sort of things you're usually looking for, guaranteed.
2. How long have you worked at ICPL or the Bookmobile?
I've worked at ICPL on and off since 2006. Like the best library journey, mine has definitely followed the scenic route.
3. What are you currently watching, listening, or reading?
I've been watching “The Great Pottery Throw Down”, “It's a Sin”, and “Q: Into the Storm”, listening to “Untamed” by Glennon Doyle (again) and the new Godspeed You! Black Emperor album, and reading “Outlawed” by Anna North and “Keep Moving” by Maggie Smith
