The Iowa City Public Library, in collaboration with the Library’s Friends Foundation and Iowa City Parks & Recreation, is bringing to Iowa City a brand new, permanent BookWalk installation in Willow Creek Park, located at 1117 Teg Drive. BookWalk is an interactive way for readers of all ages to enjoy storytime and the outdoors.
BookWalk is now accessible year round during normal park hours. The installation will change with a new book every few weeks, so be sure to enjoy each one while it’s available.
The Iowa City Public Library now has Chromebook/hotspot bundles available for Checkout to browse the internet or use Google Drive. The Library also offers a Laptop/hotspot bundle for Checkout, which includes a Microsoft Operating System and Microsoft Office.
These bundles are available to patrons with a resident card. The Checkout period is for seven days with no renewals. A maximum of one bundle can be Checked Out per card. Patrons 18 and younger must provide a consent form signed by a guardian in order to Check out a bundle. For more information, call the Library at 319-356-5200 or click here.
ICPL has a new app for you. MyICPL is the new app to manage your account(s), find upcoming events, search our collection, find our hours and contact info, and more.
MyICPL will save your account information so you can check it as often as you need to keep track of the items you have borrowed. Have an item that is due soon? Renew it from within the app. Or if you are waiting for an item, see your position in the hold line.
If you have kids accounts to manage, you can track due dates on multiple accounts. Add each account once and see all items in one list to make sure everyone is returning their books on time.
ICPL Resident cardholders can now access The Wall Street Journal website for free on a home computer or mobile browser with your library card number and PIN / Password. After entering your ICPL info, create a Wall Street Journal account for full digital access to the website for three days. Access includes coverage back to December 1997; for article searches between 1984-1997 you can find results via our ProQuest subscription.
This year the Summer Reading Program is very special because we are celebrating our 125th anniversary. To commemorate this special anniversary, we are challenging the community to help us read 125,000 books this summer. At this point, more than 1400 books have been read!
Remember the program is available to readers of all ages and abilities, babies through adults. Participants will receive a game card to track their summer reading goals.
You can watch the tracker increase as you log books for the Summer Reading Program! We hope you can join us and help us to achieve our goal and make this challenge a memorable story. For more details visit: srp.icpl.org
