The Iowa City Public Library's mobile library service is back on the road! You can check out anything from ICPL’s collection by placing a hold and requesting pickup at the Bookmobile. Meet us at any of our upcoming stops. Watch the webpage for new schedule updates!

Don't forget to wear your mask and maintain a 6-foot social distance when visiting the Bookmobile. Our Bookmobile pickup service is designed to be contact-free with staff placing items on the pickup table outside. Browsing on the vehicle is yet to come. Hand sanitizer and masks will be available, and staff have surface cleaners on hand.
Before the pandemic, one of the best parts about the Iowa City Public Library Bookmobile was its ability to bring the magic of discovery and the serendipity of browsing stacks practically to your backyard. We loved stopping around the community and inviting you aboard to roam the materials curated specifically for the Bookmobile.
While we eagerly plan and anticipate a time when we can safely gather inside the Bookmobile again, the Bookmobile crew have worked to develop a few ways to support your browsing at stops. We hope you’ll visit us to check out our new browsable bins set up on tables just outside the Bookmobile. These bins enable you to explore pieces of the Bookmobile collection including picture books, graphic novels, mysteries, non-fiction, and more. Once you find some titles to take home, we can check them out for you to enjoy.
Your holds can be picked up at the Bookmobile too. Anyone with an ICPL library card can check out materials at the Iowa City Public Library Bookmobile. When you ask for a hold or Interlibrary Loan let us know you'd like to pick it up at the Bookmobile.

1. What do you like best about working on the Bookmobile?
Getting meet new visitors (human and dogs!) is such a delight. I especially enjoy making connections with visitors who come weekly. I am looking forward to reconnecting with many familiar (masked) faces now that the Bookmobile is back on the road.
2. How long have you worked at ICPL or the Bookmobile?
I have worked at ICPL since 2014, and I am lucky to have been working on the Bookmobile since it was introduced to the community in 2017.
3. What are you currently watching, listening, or reading?
We are offering limited services. Community safety continues to be our priority and we will continue to adapt our services based on the changing public health conditions. Learn more about current Library services here.
