Electric vehicle charging station opens in Court Street Transportation Center
Iowa City residents and visitors can now charge their electric vehicles while parked in the Court Street Transportation Center, 150 E. Court St.
Users will need to download the ChargePoint app to their smartphone to activate the charger. Each port has a maximum of 6.2 kW available.
This adds to the EV infrastructure already available at the Capitol Street, Dubuque Street, Harrison Street, and Swan Ramp parking facilities. Installation of an EV charging station in the Tower Place Parking Ramp is scheduled for spring.
There is no additional fee to use the charging stations. Regular parking rates apply.
Iowa City’s Climate Action Plan sets a goal of encouraging the adoption of electric vehicles. Making charging stations available to the public furthers this goal. Since their installation, over 37,000 lbs. of greenhouse gas emissions have been avoided.
