There's still time to donate to the Arts and Crafts Bazaar!
The Iowa City Public Library Friends Foundation will accept donations of handmade arts and crafts for the Annual Arts & Crafts Bazaar until December 4.
This year’s bazaar will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, December 7, in Meeting Room A. Proceeds from the sale support the Iowa City Public Library Friends Foundation to benefit Library programs and collections.
Those wishing to donate items may bring them to the Library during open hours. All items must be handmade and be delivered with an ICPL Arts and Crafts Bazaar donation form (available at the Library and online).
Don't forget -- the Friends Foundation's Winter Book Sale will be held in Meeting Room D on Dec. 7, too. It's the perfect time to stock up on winter reading and support the Library!
ICPL to launch strategic planning process in 2020
The Iowa City Public Library will begin working on a new strategic plan in 2020. Strategic planning is completed every five years to determine the needs of the community and what the Library can do to meet them.
The Library's Bookmobile came about because of the strategic planning process, as did revamping the Computer Lab into the Digital Media Lab and creating a designated space for Tweens in the Children's Room.
More information will be made available in the new year. Public input is important during this process, so watch for opportunities to share your thoughts with ICPL.
ICPL announces holiday hours
The holiday season is upon us and with it comes a change in the Library's operating hours.
The Library will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27, for Thanksgiving Eve and remain closed on Thanksgiving. Our doors will open on Friday, November 29 at 10 a.m. and we will close at 6 p.m. There will be no Bookmobile service on these days.
The Library will be closed on Friday, December 13, for our annual Staff Inservice Day. The Bookmobile won't be in service that day.
The Library will close at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, December 24, and remain closed on December 25.
The Library will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on New Year's Eve and closed New Year's Day.
The Bookmobile won't be in service December 23 through January 3 for its routine service break.
